An abandoned old Route 66 filling station and the scrub brush growing up all around it stand in contrast to the beautiful, dusty blue sky behind it in this 9x12 documentary photo. The post upon which a Gulf Oil sign once stood still soars high into blue sky, well overhead the rotting roof of Newkirk, New Mexico's Wilkerson's. Empty since 1989, the old gas station in this Route 66 photogaph sags rather obviously toward the west, as if wishing to join the travellers heading to California on Route 66.

Photograph Title: (Untitled)
Print Size: 9x12 with a slender white border
Photograph Orientation: Vertical
Photograph Taken In: Newkirk, New Mexico, USA

Long left unmaintained, Wilkerson's Filling Station's walls are slowly melting with the years, the sun, and the rain; eventually, as you can see in my 9x12 art photograph, the building sagged enough that the large glass windows of the old place were broken by the slow, irrevocable power of nature. Pieces of the canopy have fallen, leaving bare wood to weather in the sun and rain; the white paint which once made Wilkerson's gleam is cracking and falling away in large flakes. Even the air-conditioner above the abandoned filling station's door hangs askew.

Still, the azure sky cool down the golden, warm tones of the crumbling abandoned gas station and refreshes our eyes. The abandoned filling station featured in this 9x12 documentary photograph may still stand for many years, watching many more automobiles roll down Route 66 before she sinks forever into the warm New Mexico earth.

• The limited-edition photo you receive will not be watermarked.

• I personally sign & number the back of each art photograph. After 776 prints are made, the edition is closed and the photograph will no longer be available for sale.

• Professionally printed at the highest resolution on archival photo paper with a matte finish to be smudge, fade, and water resistant.

• Very few of my art photographs are a standard print or frame size; thus each print has a slender white border surrounding the photograph itself. This border not only allows you to buy a frame 'off the rack', but serves to lend a bit of additional protection to the actual photograph itself from any serious damage.

• A signed Certificate of Authenticity is included with each photo print.

• Signed photographs are carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue, sandwiched between pieces of foam core, and mailed First Class. Once I have a tracking number, it will be sent to you.

• My monitor is professionally calibrated for colour; therefore, the colours in your received print may be slightly different from what you see displayed online.

As few of my finished photographs are standard frame size, each of my photographic prints has a white border all the way around the image. This not only means you can buy a frame 'off the rack' if you do not want a custom frame, but the white border does protect the image itself from errant fingerprints or other unintentional damage.
Since these photographs are my own interpretation of the sights as seen by me, I am sorry, but I generally will not make a colour photo black & white or vice-versa. Occasionally during post-production I'll be unable to decide which I like better and publish both, but while it does happen, it's not often, and the image I do release is not arbitrary, but the one I think best suits the subject and composition. Thanks for understanding this.
