Description

A hand forged, early, barrel key, with good patina. I believe this key to be from the 17th century. I suspect the key had very little use, if at all. From several angles you can see the join of the barrel, bow & the bit, indications of how the key was made. I can't determine the country of origin but it's likely to be European, possibly English. It's most likely to be made of iron. During the 17th century only the wealthy could afford locks & keys as all were handmade, used for items worth securing with a lock.
