Description

Shirley by Charlotte Bronte

This edition was published by Ward, Lock and Co. Ltd, approximately 1930's.

Shirley was originally published in 1849 and was Charlotte Bronte's second published work (after Jane Eyre).

I have rescued and rebound this beautiful book in a traditional leather quarter bound style.
It has a bright red goatskin leather spine with very colourful modern UK hand marbled paper sides.
Its endpapers are black and its new red ribbon and red striped endbands compliment its binding.

The leather spine has 5 raised bands with two dark blue spine labels, with gold lettering, stating title and authoress.

Condition:
There is some light foxing to pages edges and a previous owners signature to the first page.
There are a few marks to pages throughout the text, most noticeably at the top of the Contents page (see pic), but these do not affect the text.
First few pages bear some indents to the top half of the pages, again please see pics.
