This Stangl Single Bird Fruit Bowl #3632 was produced by Stangl for Frederik Lunning, Inc. It was considered a second so the Luning name was blacked out. It is hand-carved and hand-painted. This beautiful early piece of Stangl has hand-brushed engobe. It has no chips or cracks.

Stangl Single Bird was designed by Kay Hackett and introduced in 1942. It was Stangl's first hand-carved dinnerware pattern and was distributed exclusively by Frederik Lunning, Inc. The motif was based on a Pennsylvania Dutch design featuring a brown and orange bird. Lunning called this pattern Yellow Canary, while Stangl always referred to it as Single Bird. Lunning's contract for the distribution of Single Bird ended in 1953. After this Stangl continued to produce Single Bird and the pieces were marked Stangl instead of Lunning.
