Description

Hello:

This fine porceline, almost antique cream and sugar was made at the RS Tillowitz Silesia Factory. RS stands for Reinhold Schlegelmilch. The green stamp was used between the years 1920 to 1930's.

This set appears to be hand painted. There is a serious flaw under the lid of the sugar bowl. There is a 1 inch wide piece missing, and a hairline crack in that same area. If in perfect condition this set would be valued around $50.00. This set is greatly reduced. When the lid is on, the chip is not seen. Two hairline cracks appear on outside of top of lid. Lid does not fit tightly. The set could be used without the lid, or use as replacement of bowl and creamer.

The background is a light greenish brown color. The flowers look like pink peonies, or perhaps fuchsia flowers. There is gold trim around the edges. The creamer is in good condition and it measures 4 1/2 inches from handle to spout. It is 2 3/4 inches tall. The sugar bowl measures 5 1/2 inches from handle to handle. It is 3 inches tall without lid. The lower part of this sugar bowl is in good condition with light vintage wear. There are a few dark marks in the porcelain on the back and inside of handle, possibly as manufactured, or from years of use.

Is there a home for this beautiful albeit flawed, almost antique cream and sugar set?

The history of this company in Germany is most interesting. To know more, see a site called, "History of R.S. Prussia" by Lee Marple.
