***PATTERN DESCRIPTION:
This 9-page pdf cap pattern has a Saxon Braid cable, knitted as a long strip and grafted together in pattern (grafting instructions included). Stitches are then picked up along each long edge of the cable strip and the crown and lower edge of the cap are knitted onto the strip. There are three options for the edging of the hat’s brim: a garter stitch edge, a rolled edge, and a new technique which I call a braided bind-off.
***PATTERN DETAILS:
The pattern instructions include both charted and written instructions for the cabled strip, and written instructions for the rest of the cap. There is also a technique section with specific instructions and lots of pictures illustrating how to graft the beginning of the strip to the last row of knitting.
**MATERIALS:
1 skein Patons Classic Wool,
Size 8 circular(20") and double-point needles.
Cable needle (if desired)
Yarn needle
Safety pin-type stitch marker
***SIZE:
This cap will fit most adult heads. When flat, it measures 11 inches across lower edge (22 inch circumference), but will stretch to over 13 inches (26 inch circumference). From crown to brim measures 7 ½ to 9 inches, depending on the edging used.
