So rare are Vera's scarves from the 1950's!

This scarf's age (60+ years!) and history is revealed by the small-printed "Vera" name.

That little signature tells us so much:

... that this scarf was most likely made with silk cut from WWII surplus parachutes.

... that it was most likely designed at Vera's apartment on West 57th Street in NYC.

.... that it was hand-screened three times with two layers of pink and one layer of black.

... and that the hems were expertly hand-rolled.

Such history contained in a singe piece of exceptional silk!

Measures a sweet 16" square - as did most of Vera's scarves at the time because they couldn't be bigger than her kitchen table - where she designed all her early scarves!

Niced vintage condition... some water staining is its only flaw. Vera's red and pink dyes from this era were among her most fragile!
