Description

*****Please be sure to click on +MORE below to read the full description!*****

The unused card is 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" & it has beautiful vivid colors! It is a One Cent postage divided linen postcard. This card is #1 in a series of historical places in Georgia. They are not listed yet but I have the following numbered cards: 2, 3, 5, 6, 17, 18 & 24! This card also has 1B-H317 printed in the bottom right corner. The top 2 corners have been very slightly bumped. As shown in the 2nd photograph, the back of the card shows the yellowing that has started around the edges of the card. This card has had a lot of TLC & it needs a new home!

The card is a Genuine Curteich-Chicago "C. T. Art-Colortone" Post Card (reg. U.S. Pat. Off.) The card was printed by The White Company of Columbus, Ga. The foremost linen-postcard publisher was Curt Teich Co. of Chicago, which pioneered linen postcards and whose products have always been popular with collectors due to their meticulous numbering system!

This antique card is in near mint vintage condition due only to the yellowing on the back of the unused card and the bumping on 2 corners. Please use the Etsy Zoom feature to draw your own conclusions regarding the condition. By reading the description & purchasing this item you agree that you understand the condition of this item.

I want happy customers so please contact me with any questions before you make your purchase!

Thank you to all who have viewed my listing, have a good one!

More Information About St. Elmo!

"St. Elmo", one of the most exquisite examples of the classic houses in America, stands in view of this point, it was built on the old Stagecoach Road by colonel Seaborn Jones, for his wife, Mary Howard Jones. Completed in 1833, it was originally called "Eldorado." Here, Augusta Jane Evans visited her aunt and found inspiration for her celebrated novel "St. Elmo."

In 1878, the place became the home of Captain and Mrs. James J. Slade and the name changed to St. Elmo. Captain Slade once conducted a girls school here. In 1953 the house was put on the Georgia Historical Commission list.
