Description

Dimensions: 4 1/2" W x 3 1/2" T x 2 1/4" D
Time to complete: about 8 hours

Recently a customer asked me to make a scale nanny chair based on a photo she found on the Internet. I made one to her specifications and she bought it. While I was at it, I decided to make another one to list here. Here's the result.

The first chair had a solid back with inset panels and solid sides for the cradle. For this chair, I decided to go more traditional with spindles. The chair is constructed entirely out of craft sticks with the exception of said spindles which are toothpicks and the bits with finials which are large kitchen match sticks. The finials were carved into the match sticks by chucking the match stick up in my hand drill, then using it like a lathe with some files and sand paper to shape the finials. The finish is a mixture of red mahogany stain and ebony stain. I was shooting for almost black but still showing the grain of the wood. I achieved that goal in person, but the photo looks much more brown than black. In low light, it looks almost black. Once finished, I signed and dated the chair on the unfinished bottom side. If you like the idea of the chair but would rather see it in a different configuration or finish, send me a message. I will build another one to your specifications for the same price.

Custom orders are always welcomed!

To make the photos look better, I needed some color. Therefore, I decided to make a seat cushion, a quilt, and a pillow. They are all constructed out of left over craft stick bits. I laminated two layers of jumbo craft stick in opposite directions for strength then shaped them (rounded off the edges) with my Dremel and a sanding drum. Finally, I hand sanded everything and then hand painted the designs with acrylic paint. I left the bottom sides unfinished so you can see they are made of craft sticks.

A lot of people on Etsy put props with their items to make a better photo then include a disclaimer about the props not being included in the sale. I don't like that. If you buy my item, you get the props for free! If for some reason you don't want the props, leave me a message with your order and I will leave them out of the box.

My projects and props are 100% hand made by me starting with little more than some craft sticks. As such, each one is a totally unique (OOAK - One Of A Kind) work of art. I'm sure you can buy something similar cheaper. However, it will be factory made and one of many. If you buy mine, it is the only one in the world like it.

I price my items based on how long it takes me to make them. I take that time and multiply it by $5/hour. However, my prices are flexible! If the price is the only thing keeping you from buying this item, send me a message and make me an offer, I might just take it! My goal is to have fun making things but I tend to make more things than I can sell. So, I am usually willing to sell things cheaper to make room for more things.

For legal reasons, my miniatures are intended to be used by adult collectors, they are not intended to be played with by children as they may contain choking hazards.

2-Day priority shipping with tracking is included in the price. Your item should be mailed the next business morning after your order. The only exception would be if I am out of town at the time of your order, which is not very often. You will be notified when it ships and/or if there will be any delay in shipping.

Refunds: I want you to be satisfied with what you purchased. If you are not, you may return it in its original condition and I will refund your money minus shipping costs. I cannot be held responsible for damages incurred during shipping.

Lastly, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask and thank you for showing an interest in my work!
