TIBETAN BRAIDS No. 1-6

#3 measures 4.75" x 5.75"

These pieces are a series of six inspired by something I read about Tibetan Buddhism. Some Tibetan women wear their hair in 108 braids because Tibetan Buddhism holds that 108 sacred qualities constitute an enlightened mind. These six pieces taken together include 108 strands of yarn, rows of satin and straight stitching, and copper wire.

These pieces were made in a pet- and smoke-free studio. Hand- and machine-stitched to a fare-thee-well, each piece is bound with bias tape and has a picture hanger sewn onto the back.
