Print of "Into the Mine" by Joshua Moore
Materials: paper, oil paints, paints, brush, canvas
Width: 20 inches
Height: 34 inches
This is a giclée print of my painting titled, "Into the Mine." This is from "The Copper Ghosts Collection" that honors Michigan copper miners. Long before the gold rush there was the Michigan copper rush. With the depiction of mountain landscapes, portraits of miners, and scenes from their lives, I’ve tried to tell the story of what it meant to be a miner in Michigan, the more intimate struggle that may be hard to get from a history book.
This painting depicts a miner from the mid-1800s. They wore a "tea pot" oil lamp on their boiled leather helmets. In the process of having the original painting scanned, the print shop was hit by a tornado. Although the painting was scratched, everyone was safe and okay.
Art can be very powerful. With my work, I try to paint the beauty in humanity. I am dedicated to creating art for the sake of the people, art that tells a story and honors the good things in humanity.
The print is 20 inches wide by 34 inches tall, printed on paper, and hand signed by the artist.
