Description

This is a print of my painting that imagines how the Hudson clock tower would look in the style of "Marilyn Monroe" by Andy Warhol, 1962.

Andy Warhol was fascinated with both Marilyn Monroe and with mass produced images. He used one publicity photo of Marilyn and made endless copies of it in different color combinations and sizes.

A copy of Miro's painting that I used for inspiration is attached to the back of the print.

My version is a bit whimsical, a bit tongue-in-cheek. We love our clocktower; why not have a little fun with it? :)

The Hudson Clocktower As Muse - What If Famous Artists Were Inspired By Our Clocktower?

Standing on the green in the center of town, the Hudson clocktower is an iconic landmark that is greatly loved by Hudson residents. Its image is used on signs and businesses are named for it. We decorate it for holidays, hold concerts and markets in its shadow, and give directions based on it ("take a left at the clock tower").

We know that Hudson has been visited by famous people throughout history, even Abraham Lincoln.

Well, what if some of those visitors were famous artists? And what if they loved our clocktower as much we do today?

I had to wonder. Then I got out my paintbrushes and created paintings as if the clocktower had been their muse.

Makes a perfect gift for anyone who knows and enjoys the clock tower in Hudson.
