Description

Here is a fantastic rare doll from the 1940s.
His label on front of his tunic states: "Isotia Artistic Doll, Made in Florence, Italy". He is 38" and a nice heavy weight!
Blue velvet cape, lined. Has faux fur trim. Blond hair is a rare one - you normally see these with dark hair and one with black hair recently sold for close to $1000.
Painted side glancing eyes, adorable grin. His shell adorning the front of his tunic has plastic orange charms - "Italian Horns" (The cornuto, corno, or cornicello is an Italian amulet of ancient origin. Corno means "horn"
and cornicello means "little horn" -- these names refer to a long, gently twisted horn-shaped amulet worn in Italy to protect against the evil eye).
Wire armature with felt covering. Hands have some of the wire showing.
The cape and tunic are both tagged.. There is also a handwritten tag: Palio of
Lenci Nicchio - this is usually missing from other examples (very faint pencil writing - I saw this tag on only one other example of this Isotia and they deciphered it). There is also another tag - looks like from a European
Store with a handwritten price of 185.00. He has minor wear and some shelf dust. His stockings have some small holes from age and one shoe has a separation - can probably stitch it or glue if you like.
Don't let this beauty get away!
