Beautiful colors on this vintage book about the history both cotton fabric as well as the the Rhode Island textile manufacturer Lonsdale. There is no copyright date but in the rear of the book there is a date of 1948.

The book covers Early American textiles, the Brown family of Rhode Island, the birth of cotton manufacturing and the history of the Lonsdale Company itself including the companys connection with fashions advertised in modern day (1940's) fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Esquire.

The cover is a striped fabric with another image in paper over it. Unfortunately there are some light water stains and the inside paper is loose from the spine.

"Cottons" is still a great vintage book though, both for its historical content and its lovely colors, illustrations and all over appearance!
