Description

This beautiful brown yarn was spun at Stonehedge Fiber Mill in Michigan, from the fleece of three of my brown Huacaya alpacas (Slammy, Lars, & Hutch) plus two fleeces from Brad and Clair, sheep that live with Mary Parks in Pleasantville, Iowa. Thank you, sweet, well loved alpacas and sheep. That's Lars in the last picture.

60% Alpaca and 40% Sheep (Cormo & CVM)

The reason that I listed this as Sport and DK weight is because when I wind it loosely, it's DK (13 wpi) but if I tighten it up, it's Sport (14 wpi).

When the yarn arrives, I always bathe it myself to remove oils and dirt that it may have picked up. I like to use Unicorn washing and rinsing products and dry it in the sun (if possible). The first washed batch is hanging on the line in the first picture.

I love the soft handle of this yarn and am anxious to knit something with it. Because it has sheep wool in it, it will have plenty of bounce and recovery.

Approximately:
4 ounces/114 grams - 250 yards/228 meters - Sport / DK Weight - 13 wpi
