Description

This whimsical raku-fired fish measures approx. 4.5inches (11.5cm) across and 5 inches (13cm) high. It comes wired to hang easily, and you will receive the exact fish pictured here. It would look nice by itself or combined with a few more fish to hang as a group. A color gift card is included that describes the dramatic process of raku-firing that resulted in the beautiful and rich glaze surface.

I'm happy to offer a good shipping price if you're thinking of getting a few fish.

The gift card contains this information:

'Fish by Fire are designed by New Brunswick artist Karin Bach and produced at Tim Isaac Pottery. Each piece is forged through fire and water, in a firing technique known as Raku.
The tradition of Raku originated in 16th century Japan and spread to the west in the mid-20th century. It has evolved into a dramatic technique where the intuition and skill of the artist are involved directly with the firing process. Once brought to temperature, pieces are carefully removed from the red-hot kiln using long metal tongs. They are then placed in some combustible material which bursts into flame upon contact. After about one hour in this enclosed reduction chamber, pieces are taken from the ashes and quenched in water. Finally they are scrubbed with sand to reveal the wonderful and unique surface effects that have been created. www.timisaacpottery'

Well packaged, quickly shipped. Will buy from Tim again! I love this item so much that I quickly ordered another, a bit larger in size. They will be nice displayed alone or together. I was attracted to the artistic talent, creativity and use of colours in the lovely fish bowl. Thanks Tim!

I bought this green seahorse and one in the shiny blue glaze. They are beautifully made and the photos don't do them justice--the colors are rich and luminous. Very friendly seller who shipped right away so I would get these in time for a family party! Highly recommend . . .
