Description

Approximately 200 False Aster seeds (Boltonia asteroides recognita). These are native midwest prairie seeds I grew and harvested myself from a central-illinois source. They are a perennial that will come back in the summer and continue to grow for many years. A beautiful species and a favorite of pollinators!

False Aster enjoys full sun to part shade, produces white flowers from Aug-Oct, grows in wet to mesic conditions, and reaches up to 6 feet in height.

For a more detailed description of False Aster, range, habitat and cultivation, visit -

http://www.illinoiswildflowers.info/wetland/plants/false_aster.htm

Seeds are shipped in a plastic envelope with instructions for planting and care. Please feel free to message me with any questions!

I am unable to ship plants outside of the US or to California due to regulations.

Sowing Native Prairie Seeds

Two recommended methods of planting your native prairie seeds –

1) Direct sow in winter: clear and till a patch of ground. Broadcast the seeds evenly across the surface. Let winter snow bury the seeds for you. Prairie plants need to be cold stratified for an average of 60 days.

2) Nursery sow in winter: instead of putting directly in the ground you can start your prairie seedlings in pots. Fill pots halfway with potting or yard soil and broadcast seeds evenly across the surface. Let winter snow bury the seeds for you. Prairie plants need to be cold stratified for an average of 60 days. Repot or plant seedlings in your garden once they’ve become well rooted in the spring.

Store seeds in a cool, dark, dry place until planting.
