Blessed Kateri is going to be canonized in October of 2012! Her second miracle was curing a 6 year old boy who was dying of a flesh eating bacteria.

Kateri Tekakwitha was a Mohawk girl, of the Turtle Clan (which is why she is the patron saint of turtles and turtle lovers). As a convert she was shunned by her people. She survived smallpox, which left her disfigured, and traveled 200 miles by herself through the wilderness to reach a mission where she could live her life in peace.

She is the patron soon to be saint of ecology, ecologists, Al Gore, Save the Whale, Green Peace, vegetarians and earth shoe wearers and hemp growers everywhere. Her own illness caused her to be sight impaired. Her name "Tekakwitha" means "she who bumps into things".

Hand painted medal on antique copper colored ball chain measures 23 inches.
