Description

This is a small mixed media collage featuring my original painting. Bears have always been one of my favorite animals, and this one is tucked behind a few branches from a berry bush.

I painted the bear with acrylics on thick mixed media paper. Although I painted with acrylic, I used them thin, giving the appearance of watercolor.

I prepared the cradled board by wrapping it with a magazine page that's a photo of an idylic scene. This would be the background. I painted the bear on a small sheet of mixed media paper then scored a square around it so that the edge between the painting and the raw paper would be straight. I tore the paper, leaving a ragged edge of the white paper around the painting. I wrote "A glimpse of Eden" on a small piece of vintage paper and glued it in place at the top of the painting. I also added a few more collage elements - a feather, an acorn cap, and a small piece of tumbled glass.

The cradled board is 6" x 6" by 1" deep. With the twigs, which I glued onto the edge of the board, the overall size is 10" tall by 10" wide, and 1" deep. The bear painting in the center is 4" x 4". I have added a wire on the back so it is ready to hang, although you could also display it on a small easel.

Please remember that I donate my sales proceeds to animal charities, and thanks for looking!
