In the 1940s and 1950 Shawnee did a series of planters featuring deer. This green and yellow planter can be found on page 168 of "Shawnee Pottery Encyclopedia" by Pamela Duvall Curran. This planter features a mother deer watching over the fawn at her feet. Behind them is a low planter shaped to look like a tree trunk and leaves. The deer are bright yellow and the planter is a beautiful medium green. This deer and fawn planting dish is 6 inches tall, 6 1/2 inches wind and 5 inches deep. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. I do see a small mark on the edge of the planter that looks like it was done during the manufacturing process as it is covered by glaze. The bottom is marked Shawnee USA 669.
