Description

I am trying to find new homes for the gnomes from my local forest glen. They are all very friendly little fellows in need of a good home. Included with each adopted gnome is a parchment scroll filled with all the information you'll need for good gnome-keeping. Each gnome is thoroughly unique and truly one of a kind...bring one home today!

* * * Each gnome is a one of a kind sculpture cast in resin, dressed in handmade clothes, and painted by hand individually by the artist. The gnome pictured here stands approximately 5.5 inches tall and has moveable arms for different poses. The gnome pictured is the one for sale and the listing is for the gnome and accompanying scroll only. * * *

Scientific Name: “Homes Luti” (People of the Dirt, or Earthmen)

Common Name: Brownies

Length: 4 - 6 inches

Characteristics: Reddish-brown skin; large protuberant eyes; oversized feet & hands; shy but with a pleasant & cheerful demeanor

Habitat: Forest glades & hollows, moist dewy meadows, around mossy rocks & tree stumps, orchards, vineyards, pastures & other planted fields

Description:

Gnomes, or earthmen, are known to dwell wherever there is good soil. It is for this reason and their general love of things that grow that Gnomes are often found in farmland and gardens. Gnomes usually occupy unused mole holes for their dwellings. In this way they can monitor the development of the root systems of plants growing near to them. The Gnomes take great pride in helping plants grow and have been renowned throughout the ages for their gardening skill. Gnomes are also immensely fond of sweet things and will therefore often take up residence near to honeybee hives or maple trees. In the springtime the Gnomes will harvest the honey and the maple sap and make a myriad of delightful concoctions from the sweet and syrupy goodness.

Gnomes are by nature very helpful creatures, though they do not like to be observed by people when they do it. Great lovers of food and cheer, Gnomes will often secretly find their way into unused kitchens to conjure up magnificent feasts for themselves. The Gnome’s merrymaking will usually last all through the night and once the feast is over the Gnomes will depart (after washing their dishes, of course and wiping away any footprints they make have left in your soap dish) leaving some kind of token of gratitude for the absent homeowner usually in the form of a delicious baked good like homemade bread. Long considered a sign of good fortune by many cultures, Gnomes are highly desirable in and around the home. A sure sign of the presence of Gnomes in your area is the ongoing disappearance of single socks from your laundry as the Gnomes use the socks to carry off the leftovers from their nighttime feasts.
