Dimensions

Pendant height: 1.42 Inches; Pendant width: 0.33 Inches

This pendant features three round cut gemstones: a blue aquamarine, a green grossular garnet and a rich pink rose quartz. The aquamarine measures 6.9 mm in diameter and weighs in at 0.94 carats. The grossular garnet measures 7.3 mm and weighs in at 1.94 carats. The rose quartz measures 8.3 mm in diameter and weighs in at 2.70 carats. The pendant is set in silver, and as a whole measures 1.43 inches (3.64 cm) in length.

Aquamarine is a gem in the beryl family, cousin to rich green Emerald, golden-yellow Heliodor and pink Morganite. Aquamarine ranges in color from a rich sea-green through pure blues to a very light, delicate blue. This stone is an excellent example of a light sky blue aquamarine, with great brilliance which nevertheless does not overwhelm its color.

Garnet is best known as a red gem, and has been celebrated as such throughout history. However, though it is true that red coloration is by far the most typical and common, garnet can actually come in every color of the rainbow, even green. This is an example of a grossular garnet. Though this variety comes in orange (hessonite) and emerald green (tsavorite), it also comes in a range of lighter yellow-greens, which is how the mineral got its name: grossular, from the Latin for gooseberry. This stone is a great example, with a bright gooseberry green, nice clarity and an excellent round cut.

Quartz is one of the most familiar of minerals. Its most common varieties, colorless rock crystal and white opaque milky quartz are well known as common rocks found in most parts of the world. It can also form a very wide variety of gem materials. Rose quartz is one of the most unusual. It is known for its beautiful pink hues, which arise from microscopic inclusions of the mineral dumortierine. These same needles give it its trademark milkiness. Often this can render the stone opaque or nearly so, but in some cases a stone can have a light translucency. When faceted, the stones show a truly gorgeous milkiness, giving them an internal glow similar to hessonite garnet or some faceted opals. Stones like these have a totally unique look along with their beautiful delicate pink hue.
