Description

This listing is for the exact Liddicoatite Tourmaline Crystal in the photos. It weighs a nice 1.4 grams / 7 carats, 1/2 an inch at its maximum dimension. This one was photographed when my phone was dying. I apologize for the low quality photos. At the time I was unaware how fuzzy the pics actually were. Needless to say photos do little justice for this stone. This one is fully terminated. The termination is shown in the 3rd photo. Half of it is flat, while the other half is dark and etched a bit. This is a twin crystal. The twinning is primarily internal. Evidence of this is shown not only on the unique termination, but also on the bottom of the crystal where we can see a dual core. This crystal would make some interesting slices. It is technically a watermelon tourmaline. The cores are a very light pink, almost white. The outside of the stone is a dark honey brown, almost that of Dravite. Certain areas exhibit a more yellowish coloration. The 4th photo shows where the core is exposed from the a-axis, which is very neat in my opinion. In person it is evident that the striations on the exposed core are consistent with the rest of the outer crystal. This signifies that the core was partially exposed very early into the growth of this crystal because it was healed and had become the outer body of the crystal. This is an interesting crystal, and would be a great addition to a twin flame altar or grid. This one definitely has the soulmate vibe! The specific locality is Malkhan, Transbaikalia, Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. Thanks for looking at my listing.
