** This listing is for a Crochet Pattern only NOT a finished item. It is a listing for a downloadable pdf file with the instructions on how to crochet an octopus for yourself ** This pattern is only available in the English and French language.

Claude the Octopus lives in a large cave under the sea, where he tends his award winning sea garden. On weekends he hunts high and low for new star fish to add to his collection. He's sure he'd have the biggest collection around, if his samples didn't keep wandering off.

Claude is rather large, his head measures about 9 inches / 23 cm in height and he spans 45 inches/ 115 cm across, from tentacle tip to tip using an Aran weight yarn. However, he can be made from any weight yarn and appropriate hook for different sizes. This is not a pattern for beginners, but it is an easy pattern to follow with plenty of photos, and if you run in to any problems you will always be welcome to contact me for any extra help.

I love this pattern! It worked up pretty quickly and he's just so adorable! I made a lot of small mistakes, but the result is still effective. I didn't have safety eyes, so I crocheted some eyes with #10 thread. I definitely like the look of safety eyes better, but this works for small kids.

I absolutely love this pattern! I just started crocheting during quarantine, and I wanted to make this for my mom and it was great! It took me 10 days overall with 20 or more hours of work. This octopus pattern was quite and easy pattern to follow, as a beginner I did struggle with a few things like how to make the tentacles, and I wrote to the lady and she got back to me within 24 hours, and explained it so simply, and she even drew out a diagram of how it should be done. She was very helpful! And I finished my octopus and couldn’t wait to give it to my mom for Christmas, so I gave it to her the minute I finished it! I am so proud of it! And she loved it too! This was quite a big project but well worth the effort! Everyone needs an octopus in their life.

What an excellent pattern!!! I looooved making this guy. I changed up the eyes and used a different variation because I’m in love with them. This one sold immediately!! Can’t wait to make another one to keep for myself. Thinking about turning it into a backpack. 😳 Thanks for writing such a cool pattern!

Tedious and time-consuming, but worth the effort. Count carefully and use markers in all turning chain spaces as they are difficult to pick up without markers. This is by far the best octopus pattern I have found. I crocheted my own eyes and embroidered the eyelids, but otherwise followed the pattern. I used size 10 crochet cotton and a steel size 6 (1.80 mm) hook. Claude is about 12 inches from top of head to tip of tentacle. My grandkids love it!
