This is a delightful vintage shoeshine box. The box itself is handmade of wood. There is a cast iron stand featuring a horse mounted to the top of the box. The box itself measures 12 1/4 inches by 8 inches by 8 inches. The box is missing one panel of its lid.
The cast iron horse stand measures 6 3/4" tall and the place to rest the shoe is 6 3/4" long. The shoe rest does have rust on the surface. The horse has a coat of shiny black paint and is showing no rust.
On the side of the box are two metal plates. These are Bootblack licenses from Hartford, Conn. One is dated 1941 and one is dated 1958. There is also one wood handled shoeshine brush included.
This box will need some cleaning, but it is a very unique and cool piece.
