I carved "Mountain Blues" out of one of my favorite burl woods. This Buckeye is a deciduous tree that grows in the foothills of California. Back East it grows into a tall, one trunked tree. This buckeye is a shorter tree, a lot of times several growing out of one root burl. The wood is a yellowish, gold color. But when one let's it spalt or to let the fungi have at it, the wood ends up with blue, spots of red, and many shades of brown. I do not come across pieces that I can do a tree scene in very often. It comes from the roots and is generally very holy with many bark inclusions. I have had this piece for a very long time, like 20 years maybe, and was just now able to see how to design it.

The piece depicts a couple of trees living on the edge. There is a remnant of a tree that once was near the bottom.
It measures 30 1/2" x 15" x 1 7/8" thick.

The technique I use is called pierced relief. I have been developing this method since 1971. This piece is carved out of one piece of wood. I am a self taught carver. I love evolving and observing the changes that go on with my work many times mimicing my own changes.

Shipping is included in all of my work.

These tree scenes are very collectible!

Frequently asked questions about TreeWizWoodCarvings

All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.
I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.
I use Priority United States postal service mail.
I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
