Seller's description

This lovely platinum solitaire comes from esteemed contemporary jeweler Michael B's Lace line. It's set with an utterly mesmerizing natural emerald, which measures approximately 6.4mm by 6.4mm with a depth of 6.1mm, for an estimated weight of 1.57 carats.

The square cut emerald is a showstopper. Some greens you'd describe as grass green, others bottle green, others yet, if you're feeling poetic, as the kind of green you only find when you watch sunlight shining through young leaves. The color of this stone, however, defies additional description: it's what I can only call the Platonic ideal of green, no qualifiers or reservations, with a lovely velvety glow. No wonder emeralds are May's birthstone!

Set in a 4-prong head, the emerald is accented with 36 diamonds of E color, VVS1 clarity, for a total diamond weight of 37 points. The band measures 2.2mm wide with a 2.5mm rise off the finger, and is in excellent condition. If a customer were interested in pairing it with a band, it happens to go beautifully with the size 5 emerald eternity band featured separately in my shop (as are the other rings pictured in the last image: this listing, however, is for the Lace ring alone).

Although I would normally not recommend resizing this type of design for fear of ruining the spacing between the stations, at some point in its history a jeweler did an excellent job of fitting it with the sizing pad that takes it to its current 5. I believe that if the pad was removed or modified, it could go as high as a 6.
