Whether they represented a horse, lynx, dog, or the mythical leucrota (like a unicorn minus the horn), pendants very similar to this replica have been found in Viking Age (Late Iron Age) sites throughout Baltic and Slavic territories including among both the Liv and Latgallian peoples in Latvia. Unrelated, with different traditions of clothing and ornament, but living in close proximity to one another, both peoples chose this same amulet design to wear. 29 x 32mm (1⅛ x 1¼”). This pendant is also available in silver. Please see last photo for samples of cord, lace and chain options. Complementary linen blend gift pouch and polishing cloth included.
