Comfort Cowl : A simple, cozy ribbed cowl.

The soft wool against your skin... the warmth wrapped around you on a cold day... to me, this cowl feels like the ultimate in comfort. We hear about comfort food. This is comfort knitting. And I think this cowl is the perfect knitted accessory for mamas to wear while they snuggle their little ones (as you can see in these sweet pictures!) This pattern is great for beginners and for everyone who appreciates the satisfaction of a quick project. The buttonholes are optional, so if you are just starting out and want to keep things as simple as possible, you can skip that part altogether. The cowl will stretch so you will be able to pull it over your head, making buttonholes not absolutely necessary.

Feeling tired of all those knitting projects you have piled up that seem to take forever to finish? This project is not one of those. The bulky yarn knits up quickly, giving you a finished cowl in no time. If you need an instant gratification knitting project, this is the pattern for you. Plus it only takes a single skein of yarn! Knit 2, Purl 2 is a rhythm I really enjoy and naturally gravitate towards in my knitting. A few awesome buttons can really make the whole cowl. I'm in love with the beautiful wooden buttons in our family's shop here and we're so grateful for your support!

The ribbing stretches, making the single size work for many people, but you can adjust the length to your preference. (Also, you can shorten the length to fit children.)

What you'll need:
-1 skein bulky weight yarn (I used Quince & Co. Puffin from www.quinceandco.com. One skein is 112 yards and I had a little leftover.)
-size US 13 knitting needles.
-3 buttons measuring 1 to 1.5 inches wide. (Most buttons pictured were right between 1 to 1.25.)
-Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge is 2.5 stitches to the inch. (Though gauge is not terribly important for this pattern.)

Happy Knitting!!

Love the cowl :> It's actually a bit chilly enough this week in So Cal that I hope to wear it out. Very nicely made and I love the buttons :> I crochet so I know how time consuming hand made items can be so I totally appreciate the time and care that went into making this. It is lovely!

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THESE EARRINGS! I saw them at a cute little roadside stand almost a year ago in Oregon. I happened to take a photo because I didn’t have the money to get them at the time. Thankfully they were still available!!!!!!! I am a Birth and postpartum doula and these will be a wonderful “conversation starter” piece!

Thanks so much for the exquisite earrings and extra button! I am making a folding sack for myself that needs such a button so I doubly love it. As always your work is appreciated.
