“Erma” the elephant is an adorable piece of colorful pottery from the Block Pottery Company ---- a family owned business that lasted from 1940-1949, so these pieces are more difficult to come by than other pottery makers of that era.

“Erma” has wonderful hand-painted details to her body, flowers and petals over a creamy white base and is marked on the bottom “Block Pottery California” in the mold. She has a wonderful, expressive face with large brown eyes looking right at you.

Erma stands approximately 4-1/2” tall by 5-1/2” from her trunk to her tail and 2-1/2” across her base. She is in excellent condition, with one small underglaze spot between her eyes, otherwise Erma has no scratches, chips or repairs. She does have some water stains on the inside where someone has enjoyed using her as a planter.

As always, thanx for shopping Katiques!
