This is a unique hand made and hand painted glazed ceramic bowl made in occupied Japan (1945-1952). The hand painted flower design is very pretty and the bowl is in very nice vintage condition without chips, cracks or scratches (there is a small mark on the underside of the bowl that can be seen on the 4th picture) . The white porcelain areas are very shiny and the painted flower pattern is free of marks or scratches.
The bowl has a series of pottery related flaws such as drips in the glaze and some air bubbles that were painted over. This small flaws only add to the character of this piece. Occupied Japan items are very collectible and make great gift ideas. A great piece of history from a long gone era.
The bowl measures 9 1/8" in diameter.
Note: we have done the fingernail polish remover test on the "made in occupied japan" stamp to ensure authenticity.
