Description

Aloha,

This is a unique hand made and hand painted glazed ceramic bowl made in occupied Japan (1945-1952). The hand painted flower design is very pretty and the bowl is in very nice vintage condition without chips, cracks or scratches (there is a small mark on the underside of the bowl that can be seen on the 4th picture) . The white porcelain areas are very shiny and the painted flower pattern is free of marks or scratches.

The bowl has a series of pottery related flaws such as drips in the glaze and some air bubbles that were painted over. This small flaws only add to the character of this piece. Occupied Japan items are very collectible and make great gift ideas. A great piece of history from a long gone era.

The bowl measures 9 1/8" in diameter.

Note: we have done the fingernail polish remover test on the "made in occupied japan" stamp to ensure authenticity.

Mahalo for visiting The Volcano Coast Store.

Note: This is a vintage item, it has been previously loved. Great effort has been made to inspect the product, identify and describe any flaws. Please look at all the pictures, enlarge them to see details and review our store’s policies before you make your purchase.

NOTE ON VINTAGE ITEMS: We want you to love the item(s) that you purchased. We do our best to accurately describe imperfections of each item and provide pictures that you can enlarge to carefully inspect the item before it is purchased. Most of the items we sell are vintage, they have been around for a while, and as such they may show the passage of time because of use, by just being stored for a long time, or both. Some of our treasures may have very minor imperfections that may not show in pictures but that should be expected given their vintage nature.

RESEARCH: We spend time researching the items to provide an approximate year in which it was made and some history about the piece. However, some of the things we sell are not marked and although we attempt to identify the make, year and origin of the item it is only based on our best guess by using reference books, and online searches. Although we have learned a great deal, we are not experts, and the information we provide is based on our limited knowledge and ability.

SPECIAL ORDERS: We may have treasures that you may be looking for which we have not yet listed. Let us know if there is a special item you would like and we can let you know if we have it or if we have something similar.
