Description

Measures: 10" diameter X 1 3/4" tall

This set of eight A L Limoges bowls are in perfect - mint condition with - no chips - cracks - crazing or wear to paint. Each bowl is delicately painted with a bouquet of various flowers situated in just the right places to provide a lovely design that is elegant with a simple sophistication.

Not only are the edges scalloped - they also have ridges positioned at the edges of the bowls that look as if the porcelain has been ever so softly pinched together - really enhancing and accentuating the loveliness of the curved edges.

They were hand painted by the Alfred Lanternier (A L) company - started by François Frédéric Lanternier in 1857. The name was changed in 1890 to "A. Lanternier & Cie" when - François son - Alfred joined the company.

They were sold by and are marked "Albert Blanchet Paris Magasins de l'Union 12 Avenue de l'Opéra Porcelaines et Faillences".

In 1925 the Albert Lanternier (A L) was awarded the "Grand Prize" at the exhibit of the Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition. This companies porcelains were promoted by the studios that presented at the Au Bon Marché and the Galeries Lafayette making this one the more revered and favored porcelain painting companies of Limoges.

The price is for the set of 8. Other items in this pattern are available in my shop.
