Vintage ceramic black panther, mint green planter, vase, 10" figurine, 1950s mid century modern, art deco, Royal Haeger TV lamp style, small

Description

This vintage ceramic black panther figurine would be at home with Art Deco or mid-century modern decor. He crouches stealthily with a mint green planter or vase attached to his side and metallic silver painted eyes. He is not marked, but is in the style of the Royal Haeger line of sleek cats, often seen as 1950s TV lamps (although this particular one is not a lamp). Some have an opening for use as a planter built into their sides, but this is the only one I've ever seen with the small cup attached.

The iconic prowling or stalking panther design was originated by a man named Royal Hickman and was first introduced by Haeger Potteries, Inc. in 1941. They were made in three sizes, and at 10 inches long, this would be the smallest.

This guy is from my personal collection, and for many years he held cotton swabs in my retro-kitschy bathroom. He'd also make a great pencil or brush holder or fill his cup with a spiky air plant or dried twigs.

This panther is in great shape, with no chips or cracks. Be sure to zoom in on each photo to see the details and condition.

Let this sleek kitty prowl though your home!

10 inches long (25.4 cm)

This panther was originally collected by my genius mom over a lifetime of midwestern thrift shopping. I would love to send him to you, as I work on finding Forever Homes for all her wonderful rescued stuff. I bet you'd like her other things, too, so check them out: http://modernpoetry.etsy.com
