This is a very nice 1908 copy of "Elwell on Bridge: Its Principles and Rules of Play." The book is small, 6-1/2" x 4-7/8" -- quite portable.

Elwell was a noted and high profile proponent of the (then new) game of bridge. He became quite wealthy. He is almost equally known for his still-unsolved murder, which became the inspiration for a couple American detective novels.

Book includes glossary and index.

Green boards are bright, clean and square. Mild shelf wear and corner bumping. Cover paste-down illustration is colorful and full present, as is the gold type on the cover and spine.

Plus, pretty gold page edges!
