Item details

key ring, silver plated wire, 2006 South Dakota quarter coin

This key ring was made from an authentic U.S State quarter dollar coin. The coin represents the state of South Dakota and has a wonderfully detailed image of Mt. Rushmore with a pheasant in flight. After I cleaned, polished, and drilled the coin, I domed it and oxidized the metal. The darkened metal enhanced the design on the coin. The quarter was securely attached to a metal key ring to complete this key fob.

In 1999 the United States started minting quarters for the 50 State Quarters Program. This initiative continued through 2009. All states of the United states were celebrated on individual quarters. The images on the coin highlight special features about the state. The designs are beautifully rendered. Since the state quarters will never be minted again, they are collectible. A unique gift for many reasons!

The domed quarter hangs 1 1/4 inch (32mm) from 1 inch (26mm) metal key ring. The coin was securely wire wrapped the key ring by heavy-duty 18 gauge oxidized silver plated wire.

**I'm happy to check my stash for other states, just ask!**
