Description

The pattern includes the Indian Choli, Burmese Jacket and Thai Blouse and instructions for three different ways to wrap a skirt out of cloth from the South Pacific, Indonesia and India.

The Choli is the classic Indian Choli worn under the Sari. (For another type of Choli, see a different pattern, #144 which is a belly dancing style.) The Indian Choli is close fitting while leaving your midriff bare. It functions as an undergarment as well as a blouse to wear under the sari. It has shaped pieces, sides and darts in strategic places for support. They all join together in a midriff band. The sleeves are above the elbow and hug the arm.The neckline is V shaped in the front and scooped in the back. An added front underlap fastens with hooks and eyes.

The Burmese Jacket in this pattern is a short waist style garment, similar in construction to those worn in China. The front, back and sleeves are cut in one piece, with seams going down the middle of the back. The neckline and front closure area has a reinforced backing for finishing, shaping and support. The front uses handmade frog closures and knot buttons. Instructions included. And of course, there are pockets!

The Thai Blouse has been adapted to be more shapely and offer a better fit. Similar in construction to the Burmese Jacket but with sleeves cut separately. Triangular pieces in front to criss-cross and tie shut. A neckband polishes off the ensemble nicely, going from the bottom of the garment, up, around the neck, and back down the other side.

The pattern has cutting lines for sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2X, and 3X. See back of the pattern for measurements. If you have a hard reading the photo, please convo me and I will try to answer your questions.

Folkwear has been around for a long time and still is. This pattern is new, not vintage. Ursula's Alcove is a licensed dealer.
