Human Atlas and Axis vertebrae based on an MRI scan of a man.

These are the first two vertebra in the human spine. The ATLAS is the vertebra that supports the head, like the god ATLAS who supported the world on his shoulders. The AXIS vertebra is the second vertebra in the spinal column and allows the head to swivel back and forth as when you shake your head to say, "No". The axis is also the vertebra that snaps and breaks when you are hung.

The first 3 photos show renders in sterling silver and bronze.

Size: Approximately 1 inch in length (25mm)

This pendant can be worn as a necklace by passing the chain through the natural openings (spinal canal or artery foramen) of the vertebra.
