Description

DIRECTIONS/PATTERN ONLY

Combine circle weaving and knitting to create this shawl using a variety of yarns -- great for stash-busting or your handspun yarns. For the weaving portion of this garment, you will need either the 'Weave-a-Round' circle loom kit (shown in last two pictures and sold in this shop) OR the 11" Majacraft circle loom. You will need a variety of yarn in different weights and textures -- this is an intuitive pattern/recipe, with instructions for constructing the garment and modifications for different sizes, but you are in control of what colors and yarns to use and when to change yarns and stitches. Directions are written for sizes small/medium (6-12) and large/extra large (14-20) with notes on how to modify to fit different figure types.

In addition to the circular weaving loom, You will need:
Approximately 16-20 ounces of yarn in various weights, textures and colors. At least 3 oz. should be fingering weight, the rest should be a mix of lace, DK, worsted and bulky yarns with various colors and textures. Choose an assortment of colors that are pleasing together, but varied in tone, value and texture. The sample shown, which weighs 16 ounces, uses yarn in shades of blue and blue green with pops of violet and is made primarily of handspun yarn with some hand dyed mill spun yarns.

24" and 36" circular knitting needles, size 10 1/2 (adjust needle size up or down if you are a tight or loose knitter)

Knitting gauge -- approx. 4 stitches/inch when worked in stockinette stitch using worsted weight yarn. This garment uses a wide range of yarns of different thicknesses and is designed to fit loosely and with a lot of drape, so you will be using needles appropriate for bulky yarn throughout with all weights of yarn.

Saw this shrug at MAFA, bought the pattern when I got home, have started to sift through the yarn to see what I want to use. The sample in the booth was stunning and I am looking forward to weaving/knitting this shrug.
