Description

This is the first Coach Twill and Leather Trim Bag we have acquired. You don't see many of these in the vintage market place. This bag is known as Handle Portfolio In Twill and Tabac Leather Trim and was assigned style No 8050 by Coach. The Coach creed has registration number 983-1522 and states it was made in New York City.

This is a great unisex bag that is perfect for the business professional. It's a legal sized portfolio with handles 17 inches long by 11 inches high by 2 inches wide. Those generous dimensions make it large enough to carry a 16 inch laptop. It has a solid brass industrial zipper closure to keep the contents safe. Inside you can store your laptop along with your files, and a few books. There is an inside pocket that allows you to keep your phone and keys separate. The handles give you the option of using your hands to carry this or you can let them flop down and carry it under your arm.

Dimensions:

Length: 17 inches
Height: 11 inches
Width: 2 inches

We have a vintage Coach catalog from 1986 that lists this bag. This bag reminds me a bit of the Ghurka bags made in the 80s that we have in stock. [ Take a look at this Ghurka Attache from 1983 https://www.etsy.com/listing/268229017/holiday-sale-ghurka-marley-hodgson?ga_search_query=ghurka&ref=shop_items_search_4

Condition:

This bag is in very good condition for its age. It has no rips, tears or holes. The hardware functions properly and it is structurally sound. However, like most bags over 30 years old it shows some signs of wear. There are some spots on the twill. Additionally, the leather shows the typical scuffing and scratching you see on bags this age. Please see photos for most accurate depiction of condition.

THE FACTORY

This bag was made in the NYC Coach Factory which means it is in the class of the most sought after vintage Coach bags. Coach no longer produces bags in the U.S.A. and the Factory is gone. The quality of the bags manufactured at the Coach NYC factory and the skills of the leather workers who produced them was memorialized in a book released in 1977 entitled "The Factory". Although commissioned by the owners of Coach, it is a testimonial to the skill and diversity of their work force. You can read about them in this book: The Factory: Portrait of a Leathergoods Factory in Downtown New York City; Pictures by Jeremy Lezin- Words by Miles Cahn; July 1977

Please visit our shop and check out the other professional gear and briefcases available. We have plenty of Coach products, including some rare NYC Coach bags from the 1970's. We also have briefcases, attache's and messenger bags manufactured by Hartmann, Fossil, Hidesign, Goldpfeil, and other well known manufacturers.

IT'S THE REAL THING PLEDGE. If we sell it, it's the real thing. We guarantee it's the real thing or you get your money back including your delivery costs we this pledge:

GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC OR ALL MONEY BACK. We understand there are counterfeits and knockoffs of vintage products by well known manufacturers for sale all over the internet and in other market places. We use multiple procedures to assure the products we sell are authentic. One procedure we use is to research authenticity through vintage manufacturer catalogs and to report our research in the listing. Sometimes we include a snippet from the catalog to corroborate our research and educate you about the history of the bag. The purpose of reporting what the manufacturer says about its product in the catalog is to verify our research on the authenticity and to educate you about how a vintage product was portrayed in the past. It is not intended to hold our shop out as a representative of the manufacturer. However, if it turns out we are wrong or our research is not correct we guarantee that if we sell you a product represented to be manufactured by a reputable company like Coach, Cole Haan, Ghurka, Filson, Christian Dior, Hartmann, Gucci, or any other company and you have competent evidence that the product is not authentic we will refund your purchase price and delivery cost. In addition, we will pay for return postage.

Shipping policies

•Shipping costs are based on USPS Flat Rates for Domestic or International. We pass on the discounted rate Etsy gives us to our buyers. If you would like different shipping we will agree to provide the shipping you specify at the rate we are charged. If you purchase more than one item we are more than happy to combine shipping and pass on the savings to you.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. We use the USPS International Shipping service for international shipping. On international shipments the buyer is responsible for any tariff or customs charge. A tariff or customs charge is not a shipping charge but a tax imposed on the buyer by his or her country and the buyer is responsible for determining what that charge may be and for paying the tariff charge.
