Don’t let the name of “common” sage or garden sage fool you; this perennial woody herb is anything but normal or average when it comes to its impact on health. Scientifically known as Salvia officinalis, sage is closely related to rosemary, and they are often considered “sister herbs”. Modern research has discovered the impact of sage on the human body can be considerable. Typically, sage is added to savory dishes due to its slightly peppery flavor, and is a key ingredient in many holiday meals ( having to do with the folk idea of blessings). The combination of these culinary uses with its undeniable medicinal impact makes sage very valuable herb to have around. It is one of the more popular herbs in history. In the Middle Ages through 18th century, sage was very popular. After, it fell by the wayside for a while, but is now seeing a resurgence of late because of new scientific findings detailing how beneficial the herb is to the human body.
Traditionally it has been associated with longevity. Historically it was associated with enhancing memory in the elderly and it was also planted on graves. The leaves are associated with the mouth and throat and have been used for mouth wash for centuries. They are also useful for menopausal problems and as a hair rinse.

Warnings: Although there is not a measurable amount of oxalates or purines, nor is sage considered a typically allergenic herb, it is still in the mint family, so those who suffer from allergic reactions to members of that broad plant family should still consult a doctor before adding sage to your dietary or supplementation regimen.

Specific: Avoid therapeutic doses while pregnant or breastfeeding. Epileptics should avoid use.
We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.

Note: With these recipes and products being all natural and organic as well as historical- they are prone to change consistency in varying weather conditions. That does not take away from their potency or their quality- it just means that it's a natural product without any chemical additives. All Our products may melt. We can't guarentee what consistency they will arrive in during the summer months. If this happens- put them in the fridge and give them a stir once cool.
