"The Calling" is an Illustration by Tony Troy created in 2010 for the children's book, "Deas" by Valerie Tarico.
An excerpt from the book describes a bit of the story behind it
She pretended that those dark silhouettes were her Father's home that lived just beyond the meeting of sky and sea. She was on her way to meet him, sailing in a small boat with silken sails. She wore the medallion that her Mother had given her when she came of age. She held it up high so that it caught the sun and flashed on the water signaling her presence to the far off horizon.
The colors in this give it the look of an aged piece of art...an age of innocence and wonder. Inside the circle one can clearly see the young woman's yearning to know of her father and that outside the circle are images in her mind and heart. All art is of course personal to the viewer, so you can always imagine what this evokes in your own circle of life, love and the pursuit of your visions.
Thank you so much for supporting the Arts.
