While it varies based on the material, an ounce of weight usually equates to 1-2 tablespoons of material by volume.

If you are unsure what to order we recommend a Coarse grind as a good starting point. For finer inlays, use Medium to show more material texture or Fine for sharper, more accurate inlay edges. Extra Coarse is good to fill knots in wood and add character to a piece.

I spend a lot of time and care trying to produce accurate photos of my products. Unfortunately I am not able to do this for every particular listing of a particular material I have on Etsy (e.g., each individual bag of amethyst or turquoise I sell), since it would be cost prohibitive. Since it is a 100% natural product (I don't use dyes or stabilizers like some others) there can be quite a bit of variation depending on which mine the material is from.

Coarser materials appear "darker" than more finely ground materials. Extra Coarse Amethyst will appear to be much darker purple when viewed next to finely ground Amethyst, even if they come from the same rock.
