A note from the author:

My Way Home is an adventure written with many aspects in mind. It was written to teach kids a little bit about a lot of places, including a little bit of language, about the local and at times endangered animals, local culture, stories or legends.

Writing this book was a labor of love. With the entire central part of the story changing depending on which country the child calls home, there were many, many places to research, write about and then, in true international style illustrate by Argentinian illustrator Juan Chavetta.

We say our books grow with the kids, but what does that really mean? It means when I wrote this book, it was deliberately with many levels to the book. Languages, flags, codes, hidden facts, country shapes to find and of course, the Kids Book Company teddy hidden on every page. For the younger ones, finding the teddy is a celebration. For the older ones, decode puzzles to learn facts about the different countries and animals pictured in the illustrations.

It also means if you have a bright child, they’ll LOVE this book as the many layers will extend them no matter where they’re at.

Plus, of course the personalisation changes the way the course of learning progresses, creating the platform for engagement that brings out the best in every kid.

My Way Home was also inspired by my own travels, and by the international mix of the two original founders of The Kids Book Company, I’m from New Zealand, and have been lucky enough to live around the world, and Fernando from Argentina who has done the same. We both wanted to inspire a love of travel, while acknowledging how important home is to all of us.
