With a stylish abstract pattern and beautiful teal and grey colourway, this set of five tea cups and saucers made by Alfred Meakin are a great example of the best in mid-century popular design for the home.

Well, we say set: in fact the stamps on the saucers show that two of them date from 1972, one from 1973 and the other two from 1975 - though this seldom-seen pattern actually seems to date from as far back as 1966.

The cups and saucers are all in excellent condition, with no crazing or marks - with the single exception of a small chip on the underside of one of the saucers.

The cups measure approx 10.5 cm wide x 7 cm high; the saucers measure approx 14 cm in diameter x 2 cm. Together the five cups and saucers weigh just under 1500 g.
