Description

Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha

ABOUT THE DESIGN:

This mantra evokes the powerful energy of Ganesha, the beloved elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati. He is known as the loving, wise, peaceful remover of obstacles. We can also call upon Ganesha as the god of beginnings as we address him first when we chant more than one mantra in our practice, or to help commence a ritual or ceremony or any action in our lives.

This mantra can be chanted 108 using a japa mala, often known as Buddhist or Hindu malas, or prayer beads.

If you feel called to work with mantras and want to learn more about their meanings, it is a good idea to pray and search for a trustworthy teacher to come into your life to help guide you on your spiritual journey.

Here is a wonderful explanation of the use of Hindu and Buddhist deities in your spiritual practice, from Aly Dunne via TheWayofMantra.com:

“A word about the Vedic gods and goddesses that some of these Mantras refer to…. it is my understanding that The Divine is vast and also extremely benevolent. The Divine will come to the seeker in whatever form is best for them. That is why there is much variety – so many images of God.
The Divine has no form but will come to us in these ‘Masks of Eternity’ as Joseph Campbell spoke of them. The Vedic gods and goddesses and also for example, the Tibetan Buddhist’s different deities like the Green Tara or Manjushri – are forms we have created in order to understand and have relationship with these Divine energies such as Divine Wisdom, Divine Compassion etc.,

“Don’t get me wrong, the energies these ‘forms’ represent are very real and powerful – these forms help us to relate to these specific energies of the Divine and how they interplay with each other.

“It helps us also to have these ‘forms’ of the Divine in a human like form – even if they have trunks:-) so we can accept them easily. But, don’t get too caught up with the images if they bother you – focus instead on the feeling you feel while repeating these mantras. Your own experience will guide you.”

Wow, such great info, right?! Aly Dunne’s blog is my favorite place to learn about mantra and gain more knowledge of spiritual matters. You can find much more information about Ganesha, and mantra chanting on her site, TheWayofMantra.com. And there’s plenty more to learn about Hindu deities and Sanskrit mantra all over the web.

We hope you enjoy this poster and that it brings peace, beauty and joy to your days. Our designs are enjoyed in homes, yoga studios, meditation spaces, churches and other sacred spaces, and we love to see pictures of the art in your space! Feel free to share on Instagram using #InclinedCreative.
