The longer story :)
I wrote this book while traveling in Europe with my family. I was starting to paint prolifically during a stay in Cornwall, England and inspired by the immense and beautiful nature, one day I wrote 3 or 4 poems. I knew right away that these poems were going to have to become this book.
I just kept painting and writing whenever possible and a few months later, it all came together. I matched up the poems to the paintings I'd been making and it all fit.
The idea behind the poems [and the paintings] is very inspired by the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. If you don't know him, he wrote a couple of books [the power of now and a new earth] that teach the importance of being. Being in the present moment, being here and just being. To have (or be) awareness, consciousness.
I really loved the idea of making this more available to small kids. To at least start to read to them about it, in a way that they can grasp. In small phrases, with beautiful pictures.
My 2 year old is now citing the poems from the book and it is a wonderful thing to hear her say, for example:

"When your head is full
With chitter chatter
When you're not feeling well
But nothing's the matter
Breathe"
