Description

***PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BELOW BEFORE ORDERING***

Growing lilies from seed to bloom is generally a multi-year proposition, but fast-growing Formosa lily (Lilium formosanum) can speed from seed to flower over just one or two growing seasons. The upright, leafy stems generally reach 12 to 18 inches tall with a single flower the first --or more often, the second--year, eventually reaching 5 to 8 feet over the following years, with multiple trumpet-shaped, fragrant white flowers that may be lightly brushed with maroon on the backs of the petals. Bloom time is mid- or late summer to early fall. Full sun to partial shade; average to moist but well-drained soil. Zones 5 to 9.

Harvested in 2019. At least 30 seeds.

Germination Information
Sow the papery seeds indoors in late winter to late spring, just covered with growing medium, and set in a warm, bright place. Or, sow in pots or a nursery bed outdoors in spring or summer.

Shipping Information
Shipping for Hayefield seed orders is a flat fee of $3.75, or free if you spend $35 or more. That includes First-Class shipping with a tracking number and a padded 7" x 9" envelope to protect your seeds. Please don't blame me for the high shipping price. Etsy now charges sellers a significant fee on sales made through their off-site ads, even on shipping and sales tax, and it does not give me the option of withdrawing from that ad program, so I have had to raise my shipping charge significantly. If you wish to buy seeds from me at a lower shipping charge, please visit my site at https://hayefield.com/shop.

Additional Information
All seeds I sell are from open-pollinated plants grown in my Pennsylvania garden and meadow without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. I collect, clean, and pack them by hand into glassine envelopes. The hand-written label also includes my contact information, a minimum seed count, a "packed for" date, and a "sell-by" date, as required by my seed dealer's license from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The packet does not include the germination information, so I suggest bookmarking this page or printing it for future reference.

As it is not possible for me to include everything there is to know about germinating and growing this plant in this space, it is up to you to do further research before ordering. Make sure that it is suited for your site and climate, that it is not considered invasive in your area, and that it is safe and appropriate for the use you intend to make of it (that it is not toxic to children or pets, for example, if they have unsupervised access to your garden). If in doubt, do not order.

If the seeds do not perform to your satisfaction, please contact me to discuss refund or replacement. My liability is limited to what you paid for the seeds.

Estimated delivery

The estimated delivery date is based on your purchase date, the recipient's location (actual or inferred), the seller's processing time and location, and the shipping carrier. Other factors—like placing an order on a weekend or a holiday—may end up pushing the arrival of your item beyond the estimated delivery date. It's our hope that your item gets where it's going as soon as possible, but given the factors involved, this is only an estimate.

I waited to review until I saw how the plants germinated to see their appearance and production. I am highly pleased!! Nearly 100% germination and the plants are stunning! Thank you!
