Description

Given the new political era we have entered into, how could I not come out with a new set of appropriately satirical, darkly flirty #MuslimVDay Cards? Though I had retired this project, the accelerated islamphobic trauma we've experienced in the 2016 election cycle inspired the kind of creativity within me that could only be answered with another set of #MuslimVDay cards for Valentines Day 2017. And this set, your order will come with a BONUS card - for a total of SEVEN in each set.

The 2017 set of cards include:
"Let's Engage In Some Heavy Vetting"
"Are You Russian? Because You've Hacked Into My Heart"
"I'm On The Frontlines...Of Loving You"
"First Muslim Registry... Then Wedding Registry"
"I'm Ready For The Camps Because You're So Good At Pitching My Tent"
"Let UNPRESIDENTED Be Our Safe Word"
"Waha-BE Mine"

The fifth set in the series, these six cards (plus bonus!) are printed on 4.25 x 5.5 postcard size cardstock to ensure proper mailing. Each card is vibrantly full colored, and is numbered, signed & dated.

Started in 2011 as a personal counterculture art project by Taz Ahmed, the six #MuslimVDay card images created yearly have taken the internet like drones dropping bombs. Muslims love. Muslims laugh. Muslim have snark. If these cards make you laugh, but uncomfortably, they have done their job.

And this is what Colorlines magazine had to say: http://colorlines.com/archives/2013/02/ive_got_a_ji-hard_on_for_you_and_other_delightfully_uncomfortable_muslim_valentines.html

"MuslimVDayCard is Ahmed’s lighthearted answer to Islamophobia, and the confining stereotypes that trail her as a Muslim woman. “I was thinking about Islamophobia and language around Muslims and love,” she said.

“I was tired of Muslims being put into a box — and tired of being in the box of a non-sexual Muslim woman,” Ahmed said. “So this was my way of reappropriating Islamophobia.” The series is political humor at its best. Cheeky, sharp, with clever puns and lightness of spirit that’s grounded by the reality of Muslim life in this post-9/11 era. Ahmed has found that Muslims love the series and laugh openly at it, whereas many non-Muslims “feel bad about laughing about the jokes.”"
