Description

This is a listing for a hand quilted, hand dyed blue Boro inspired quilt in 100% cotton fabric and batting 46” by 59” in size. This quilt is made with pieces of hand dyed Indigo, hand stitched in red cotton thread and backed with ice dyed cotton fabric. The quilt has a nice warmth without being too heavy. This quilt is just perfect for use as a lap quilt or a toddler/baby blanket. It would be perfect to have at daycare for those afternoon naps.

This quilt takes it's inspiration from Boro, which means rag in Japanese. Boro quilts are usually made of worn fabric scraps quilted together using long running stitches but unlike true Boro, I used my own hand dyed cotton pieces rather than worn fabric scraps. I quilted the fabric with long running stitches in 100% red cotton Sashiko thread. The quilt is backed with my own hand dyed single piece of fabric in oranges, yellows and and sheds of reds and pinks. I used 100% cotton needled batting for the filling.

I chose my fabric from assorted blue Indigo cotton that I dyed using bleached and natural cotton. (This gives the quilt another layer of coloring.) Then with the edges folded over, I laid them on top of my quilt sandwich (backing then batting). Like a puzzle, I filled in the spaces in a random order, pinned it all together and started to hand stitch in red cotton thread. Made from the same hand dyed fabric, the binding was finished by hand. No machine stitching was used in the quilt.

I believe the pictures are good representations of the shades of blue quilt, but every computer monitor is different, so please keep that in mind.

My dyed fabrics have been thoroughly washed, tumbled dry, steam ironed. Wash in cold water delicate cycle and tumble dry low. The quilt has been machine washed and dried once to show it is a sturdy use-able quilt that will survive many years.

Your order will ship within 3 postal days. I will send you a quick email to let you know that your package is on its way. Orders are sent via First Class mail. Please contact me if you have questions regarding the shipping method or price.

I want you to be completely satisfied with your quilt. If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days of receipt of your purchase. I will work out a solution with you for either a refund or exchange depending on the situation. Buyer is responsible for return postage.
