Condition: Good.
A solid tight book. Exceptionally well built and built to last. Tan cloth boards hard and sturdy. Corners bumped and edges scuffed, as expected for an antiquarian.
Black embossed decorative text at cover and black embossed text at spine.
Pages are honey colored. Text is crisp, illustrations clean and clear
Endpapers are foxed. Front first blank leaf has a neat, short inscription in pencil.
Else, pages are clean, a delightful rare copy.

Garfield had served nine terms in the House of Representatives, and had been elected to the Senate before his candidacy for the White House, though he declined the Senate seat once he was elected President. He is the only sitting House member to be elected president.
